Earthquake 1988

A heavy earthquake hit the Caucasus region in December 1988. It particularly hit the province of Shirak in the Northwestern Armenia. 28.000 people were killed and further 150.000 casualties reported. Austria has been among the first to offer a wide range of support. The Austrian Children's Hospital in Gjumry became reality.
